Guest lecturing for the first time

Last week marked a significant milestone for me: stepping into the role of a guest lecturer at a university, thereby ticking off one of my major goals for 2024.

My initial nerves were quickly soothed by Tracy Pirie, who introduced me to the ethos of School of Creative and Cultural Business, RGU. She spoke about their commitment to promoting authenticity. Students here are exploring a range of intriguing topics for their PhDs, from the supernatural and horror movies to Disney. This diversity in academic pursuits had me longing to dive back into such a stimulating environment.

What truly stood out to me was the exceptional engagement of the master's students. Their eagerness to ask questions and the genuine interest they showed made me feel that my efforts were genuinely making a difference in their lives.

During the lecture, we delved into the nuances of networking personalities, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in professional interactions. We explored business etiquette, cultural diversity, and the varying business cultures across the globe, discussing how these factors influence personal and professional presentation.

Above all, we focused on the crucial role of trust in networking. Concluding the session, I was profoundly grateful to the students for entrusting me with the opportunity to guide them, but also for their willingness to engage and share their thoughts and questions openly.
